At Shinsei Servicer, a main feature of the System Support Division's work involves the construction of order-made systems for the debt it services. The Division communicates with various company staff as well as outside vendors to perform this task. Looking at the larger picture of greater business efficiency, much of the work conducted by the Division focuses on this objective. In today's world, IT is an indispensable part of every company. As an in-house systems engineer, I feel most satisfied when everything from systems development to the user side is fully integrated, enabling people to accomplish their projects. As for my work as an in-house systems engineer at Shinsei Servicer, the most interesting part is being able to build and implement order-made systems that are customized for various types of debt.
Although "debt" is a single and seemingly simple word, when legal regulations, contractual details and other factors related to debt vary, the system must also be adopted to handle these elements. As such, one of the most appealing facets of this work is the opportunity to gain broad-ranging and detailed financial knowledge in such areas as structured finance, lease receivables and loans backed by real estate through experience with diverse cases and involvement in many types of operations. I doubt I could gain such experience at a company that didn't handle debt in the diverse range of industries that this company does.
Before joining Shinsei Servicer, I worked at a systems development company as a systems engineer. We naturally tried to provide the best possible solutions through an understanding of the customer's perspective. In reflection, however, I see that there were some things that I overlooked and I seem to have been quite inexperienced. Conversely, now that I am doing the same work but in an internal role, I can witness problems as they arise. My work entails grasping the nature of the problem through communication with various colleagues and striving for the best possible results, while also taking into account the problem from the development side. In this way, the systems at this company require me to play many different roles. Therefore, for those who are interested in pursuing a career in financial systems, the knowledge you can gain here runs deep and the work you will perform here is broad. The on-the-job training here is also excellent, so it is a workplace with many possibilities.
I joined Shinsei Servicer because I developed an interest in the world of finance at my previous company and felt like I wanted to learn more through my work. Because this company handles a large variety of debt, it provides an environment in which I can absorb a great deal of financial knowledge. I get the feeling that I can overcome any obstacles by the experience I am gaining through my work here.
I joined the company in 2002 during the period when it was first established, and it was a time when there was nothing to do but build the systems. I intend to keep supporting the company by building stable systems that are on the leading edge of the industry.
We continue to aim for constant improvement and adaptability to an ever-changing market through business simulations, analysis and other techniques. In order to provide services that exceed expectations, we are implementing the optimal choices that each situation dictates. This line of thinking is key to establishing our system configuration as the vanguard of the industry, and we are able to support the company through its systems if we can support management in making accurate judgments and conducting speedy decision making.
I eventually want to move beyond building systems for individual business lines and attain a larger perspective of the entire company and become a systems professional involved in management strategy. Recently, I have been reading books on business that have nothing to do with my studies at university, and I am committed to expanding my vision by acquiring knowledge not directly related to systems. I hope to become a professional that can think in terms of the union between management and systems from a perspective closer to that of management.
